Parked

Good Monday!!

I'll begin with a side note:  Blogger has made some changes and I'm having a little trouble adapting to the way posts are created.  I have to say, I'm not liking it much.  So many people have moved away from Blogger, but I've stayed because I'm not ready to pay for a site and because moving my blog seems like a really big job.  I know it's a really big job that I would probably need to hire someone to do.  It may be coming to that because I really don't like how things are now.   I had just created a post and then click---oops---it was gone.

I took this image from an abandoned barn we had permission to explore this weekend.  The moodiness and mystery of it....♥♥

Now, I'm off to get some other work done so I won't recreate my first post and just share my image.

Remember I'm praying along with all of you for a cure, vaccine, and graces for our world.

Abandoned Continued

I don't know the story at all of the buildings we explored and hope to eventually learn more. I guess what remains will be the story for now.

No problem.

The days are finally warming up and it's time to get to work outside!

Praying+Creating+Gardening = Peace

Sticks and Stones and Bricks

"See you make a wish and try to break some glass-you've got to be a pretty good shot these days--oh no George don't, it's full of romance that old place..."

Just in case you all don't watch the movie every year...the quote is from "It's a Wonderful Life" while George and Mary are out walking after falling into the school swimming pool.

Not a lot of romance here I have to say.  But, it's what I thought of when we saw this room and the bricks.  We had permission this weekend to explore a couple of abandoned buildings on an old property.  I sure do enjoy photographing abandoned places.

I'll post more pictures tomorrow, but I wanted to leave this one by itself.

The metaphors are poignant here.  Life is metaphor and it's completely by design, of that I have no doubt.  Divine design.
I saw the scene and was drawn to it and so took the photo, but I didn't see the metaphor until I began to edit it.

The words, judgments, insults, snide remarks we cast land somewhere within.
There is someone inside looking out.
Damage is done.

Goats, Chickens, Pigs, and Goats!

While we were up visiting my Mom yesterday, she suggested we head to the farm so the girls could see the animals and look for eggs.  My brother and sister in law have some animals out there and it's always fun to see what they've added.  There was another goat and two new pigs this time. You'd have to look close but there are goats, pigs, chickens, and ducks all in the same space here.
Old school and it's great!

So we went looking for eggs and Mom said they are often up in the lay loft.  Yes, the girls were scared to get up there, but did make it to the top of the ladder. :)

My husband and I used our phones for flashlights to look for the eggs.  Old school meets new school.

This nest of three were all we found. (It was dark up there.)

No eggs in the nesting boxes.  Mostly you see these used as cubby storage in people's homes.  They are still used as intended some places!

This "new" barn was added since the last time we were there.  My brother, I assume, traded something for it.  And, I'm not gonna lie...I was jealous!  Of course it's missing most of the two walls on the other two sides, but it was still wonderful!!

The loft would sure make a great space for so many things!

This wasn't as high as the other loft so the girls were more brave.

This is the old house that my Dad used as a shop.  Before long it will be gone so I take pictures of it every time I'm there.

My Grandpa lived in it for awhile and I'm told it was run down even then so it's been around for a long time. I love it.  Love it.

So....wonderful.

Oh, I almost forgot this picture of two of the goats.  That one in back, sounds just like an old man in pain when he bleats, crazy weird sounding!

I hope your week is off to a great start!

And, after I posted on Saturday, my daughter just kept feeling better, so after my husband got home I was able to go join up for pizza with my old classmates.  Still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that we are all 51 now!

For the Love of...Decay

The theme at Kim's Texture Tuesday this week was a fill in the blank.  "For the Love of...."
After shooting on Sunday, it was easy to fill in the blank.
What always speak to me:
 Leaf skeletons?  Decay.
Chippy paint? Decay.
Rust? Decay
Rotting logs? Decay.
Abandoned buildings? Decay.

I really like how this house sits back in all the overgrown trees, emphasizing it's neglect.  Out of sight...out of mind, as the saying goes.

I textured the image with one from Kim's Downton Collection, "Mary".

Happy Tuesday to you!

Preview: Abandoned

I was able to go do a little exploring yesterday with my camera.

And, I explored here.

More pictures to come.

Abandoned School House

Last week I was heading up to watch the barn be moved, but on my way, my husband called and said it had been postponed because of the wind.  Right at the point on the road when I hung up was this abandoned school house that I've always wanted to photograph. :)

Now, the winds were at 45 mph and it was cold, so I didn't stick around to take too many, ha!

I hope to get permission to go inside and look around and maybe take some more photos.  My husband is on it for me.

It didn't work out for me to go up when they did move the barn, but it is now on the fairgrounds, moved without incident.  They won't have it on the foundation for awhile, but it will be ready before the fair there this summer.

I think it will be kind of hard for everyone to see the empty spot on the farm.  But, this is a good thing for sure.
