Focusing Small

So often we are focused on the small details that we miss the big picture.

Then there are times when the big picture is overwhelming that you need to just focus on the small details.

Such is the case with our garden.  The big picture is overrun with weeds. And, overwhelming.

So, I'm focusing here.  Where life is small and intriguing and beautiful.

18 years of getting behind in the garden and yet every year I hope for better.

The life behind the scenes so to speak is so amazing, isn't it?!

I hesitate to make another metaphor to life here, but it's so true.  We really need to be careful that we don't let the news, or facebook, or another big picture distraction, make you miss the life behind the scenes.

People who aren't on your radar may have intriguing lives and stories to share.

~have a great day~

White Cosmos: Graceful and Simple

The cosmos in the garden began to bloom a couple of weeks ago and these white ones are just so so pretty!  I decided to catch them in the early morning light.  This is the first our dining room table has been cleared off for WEEKS! 4h projects, apartment hunting for two of our kids, moving our daughter, and family events have been keeping us away from house chores.

We have purple and pink ones blooming too and I put them in another arrangement.

It's the white ones though that really grab my attention.  The cosmos have such a gracefulness to them.

I think they are wonderful in the vintage white milk glass vase.  I picked that up at an estate sale a couple of years ago.
The seed packet we had was a combination of colors, so I think I'll order a packet of all white next year.  While I was looking I found these double click snow puff white cosmos seeds too!  I've pinned them so I don't forget them.

Hopefully, the next blog post won't be so long in coming...Be sure to check the sidebar for the Instagram feed to see what else has been going on here.

~Hope you're having a good day~

So, I think you can guess where we went for a vacation!

We waited a really, really, long time...(partly in rain) for this...
it was impressive!
(if the GIF has stopped, you can click the picture to start it again)

I stepped back and caught my family illuminated by the fireworks!  You can see our rain ponchos, ha!  The little girls are in front of the older ones and my husband is on the right.

We also saw Kennedy Space Center (LOVED it!) and went to the beach.  (LOVED that until the burns hit....arg! And, we thought we were being careful!)

I had to brush the cobwebs out of my brain to remember how to make a gif. :)  The "burst" mode on my Samsung Galaxy phone was great for taking the pictures.

Now, we are wrapping up 4h projects and looking for apartments for one of my daughters and my son.  Then we still have swimming lessons to get to...summer sure fills up and flies, doesn't it?!

AND, our new granddaughter will be here in a couple of weeks!!!!!!!!!!  Woohoo!!!!!
