Bells of Ireland

My new favorite flower (because it volunteered back this year abundantly!) is the Bells of Ireland.

Here, just a couple of blooms, a couple of Daisies, and a sprig of Honeysuckle vine make a very pretty posy...

...sitting next to an engagement photo of our daughter who was married last year.

And they sit on a table holding an incredible stack of magazines that I received in a giveaway from Z just waiting for me to continue to peruse them.  Oh, I've looked some for sure, but they will be savored and enjoyed for months. Sitting on top of the magazines is the Made for Play book by Joel.  It waits too.  But, that's okay.  Projects will be made or ideas spurred by all that great inspiration in time.

Have a great weekend!

Junkstock Part 2

Simply Bungalow from Lincoln was set up at Junkstock and just like their brick and mortar shop, their booth was full of goodness.

Leather cuffs from upcycled belts...pretty popular now. Simply Bungalow

I wonder how many people stop to look at the individual pieces of fabric in a scrap quilt....I do!  They are little pieces of art within art within art.  The fabric itself, the block, then the quilt. Simply Bungalow

How great does this Arctic cooler look on a day like today?!  Can you imagine it all full of an ice cold drink and the condensation forming on the outside?  Lemonade for me, thank you. Simply Bungalow

Are old books appreciated enough?  Gosh, I think they are gorgeous decorator pieces. Simply Bungalow

This is Heidi from Simply Bungalow in her "oh please no pictures of me...I'll pretend you aren't here" pose.  In fact, I'm pretty sure those were her exact words.  Isn't this a fun picture?

I don't know who had this couch in their booth, but oh my.  I wish it would have been available for a photo prop too.  Of course, I'm sure they wouldn't have minded, but too many people around!  In an alternate reality, this couch would be in my vintage shop and art gallery with lots and lots of stacks of old books.

Celadon Goods, from what I gather, is new to this world of repurposing and facebook and apparently her booth was just about picked clean.  Awesome sign!!

We really were at Junstock for such a short period of time. I was focused on taking it all in with just a few pictures and helping with the baby, that I now realize I have no idea how much this little toy station wagon was and why did I not buy it?!
Celedon Goods

This great jewelry display was in Robins Nest's booth.  She had some incredibly painted furniture pieces, but I didn't get any pictures of them.  Her facebook page has more pictures.

There was music playing the while we were there....Bob Dylan songs included....great atmosphere!

From Venice Antiques: A cherub statue sans the heads....would look soooo neat in my tank garden
Not this trip though.

Somehow I missed Laurie from the Whistlestop. :(  She was set up too and posted on her blog about it here.

With over 20some vendors there was obviously a lot more than the snippets I've shown here.

Thanks for coming along for our short visit!  These are our coffee drink treats for the drive home...hot for me, cold for my daughter...mmmmmm...I bet she rolled her eyes at us when we left. :)

Junkstock Part 1

Saturday, my oldest daughter and I made a quick trip to Omaha to join all the fun at the first annual Junkstock.  We took the baby along so there really wasn't shopping on our minds...just checking it out and wanting to see if I'd like to be a vendor for next year.  But, oh was there wonderful shopping to be done!

The ground was uneven and there was a jaunt from the parking to the site which is entirely fine and to me made it more fun.  Along our walk was this couch out in the field.  I don't know if they put it there on purpose for a photo op, but we jumped at the chance and a new blog header was born!

Loved this sign that redeux had, but I have no link for them. :(

How's that for a statement piece? (In redeux's booth)

This is a pretty display from the Painted Pineapple.

I loved this tree branch display and her necklaces in the Painted Pineapple's Booth.

The infamous Cammie from the junking world and Flea Market Style Magazine.

Great keys and a great display.

I'll post more pictures from our visit to Junkstock later this week.  I'm not sure if they've set the dates for next year's event yet, but I think you'll want to put it on your calendar as soon as they do.  The atmosphere was festive and the junk was glorious!

Wreath Planter

A couple of weeks ago, I discovered a temporary plant shop set up in a near by town. I was just thrilled to find it as everything was so pretty and I saw some plants that I haven't seen this year. At the suggestion of the wonderful gardener manning the shop, I created this grapevine wreath.

I hope the slide show works for you to explain the steps. I was in a hurry so didn't take the time to set up the best pictures. I hope you can still see and understand how it went together.  If you click on the slide show, it will take you to Picasa and you can view the pictures larger.

For anyone local, the shop was Siffring Landscaping in the Getzschman parking lot on East 23rd St. in Fremont.  They have everything 50% off now this week at that location.

Mosaic Monday A.K.A Swatch Monday

For the past almost 2 weeks I've been tending to two of my children who have both had surgery.  Not emergency anything, but necessary.  Thankfully, they are both on the mend and doing very well.

I bought this pineapple the other day and one of my daughters cut some wild day lillies to bring in.

I've been admiring the fact that they come from the same color palette for days and just quickly snapped a couple pictures of them.

I  get a great kick out of Leah's Swatch Friday so even though this isn't a "linky party", I'm playing along with her.  Hope you don't mind, Leah!

I got a tad carried away with my swatches.  Not very sophisticated, I know.  But, I was taking a break and playing a bit. :)

Now, to go cut up that ripe, possibly overripe because I've been admiring it, pineapple.

Be sure to check out Leah's swatches....This one's my favorite.

Texture Tuesday: Quote Edition

My oldest daughter found this intriguing quote from C.S. Lewis and put in in the Jane Austen font.  I helped by adding Kim Klassen's texture, "Journal" which I converted to black and white. Then I added the scalloped border and we were done.
The texture is subtle but it helps give the print an aged look and a lot of depth.

It is now in a silver frame sitting on a shelf at my daughter's home. (She actually fills her frames.  I buy frames. I take pictures. The frames seem to have trouble getting together with the pictures here.)

I'm linking up today with Kim at the Cafe for Texture Tuesday: the Quote Edition.

I hope you are having a great week!

Paula's Garden Year 4

I went to visit my friend Paula again today and had such a nice lunch and another stroll through her back yard and garden.  Even though  I've posted about her garden before, I thought you all might like to see what is new and what was blooming.
Here are the links to previous posts about her garden.

Her hostas are really doing well!

And, my little gals on her bridge....they've sure grown a lot from year one!  The day was so cool and with heavy cloud cover that I quickly snapped the pictures when there was a little sun.

Thanks again, Paula for such a nice visit!
